Silicone cable for extreme conditions
This 7-core silicone cable, with a cross-section of 10 mm², is designed to operate in demanding environments where standard cabling fails. It is characterized by exceptional resistance to high and low temperatures, making it an ideal choice for industrial, energy applications, and industries requiring flexibility and reliability. The cable meets UL/CSA standards, guaranteeing safety and compliance with international standards.
Construction and properties
The cable is made of multi-strand copper conductors (class 5), providing high flexibility and resistance to mechanical fatigue. The insulation of the cores and the outer jacket are made of silicone, which ensures temperature resistance in the range of -60°C to +180°C (short-term up to +220°C). In addition, this material is resistant to many chemicals, oils, greases, and UV radiation. The cores are twisted longitudinally, and the protective conductor (yellow-green) is present from 3 cores upwards. Core identification is carried out in accordance with DIN VDE 0293-308 – black cores or colored with white numbering (in the two-core version brown and blue).
Applications and benefits
This cable finds wide application in:
- Power plants: thanks to its dielectric properties and resistance to high temperatures.
- Industries: steel, aviation, shipbuilding, metallurgical (ceramics, glass, cement plants).
- As a flexible connection cable: where high flexibility and resistance to extreme conditions are required.
- Applications requiring halogen-free materials: compliance with DIN VDE 0482 part 267/DIN EN 50267-2-1/IEC 60754-1 ensures safety in the event of a fire – a SiO2 coating is formed instead of toxic gases.
- Where there is exposure to radiation: resistance up to 20x10⁶ cJ/kg (up to 20 Mrad).
It is worth noting its flame retardancy (compliance with DIN VDE 0482-332-1-2, DIN EN 60332-1-2, IEC 60332-1 and CSA FT1) and good chemical resistance – it is resistant to mineral oils, vegetable and animal fats, alcohols, diluted acids and alkalis, and many other substances. It should be remembered that there are limitations regarding permanent installation – it is recommended to use it in open or ventilated cable ducts due to the potential reduction of the mechanical properties of silicone at temperatures above 90°C.
