Silicone cable for extreme conditions
This 7-core silicone cable, with a cross-section of 6 mm², is designed to operate in demanding environments where standard cables fail. It is characterized by exceptional resistance to high and low temperatures, making it an ideal choice for industrial and specialized applications. The cable meets UL/CSA standards, guaranteeing safety and reliability.
Construction and properties
The cable is made of multi-strand copper conductors (class 5), providing flexibility and ease of installation. Each core is insulated with silicone, which provides excellent dielectric properties and temperature resistance. The outer jacket is also made of silicone, further increasing resistance to external factors. The cores are twisted longitudinally, and a protective conductor (yellow-green) is present from 3 cores upwards. Core marking is done according to DIN VDE 0293-308 – black or colored with white numbering (in the case of a two-core version, brown and blue).
This cable stands out with a wide range of permissible operating temperatures: from -60°C to +180°C (short-term up to +220°C). It is also resistant to radiation, oils, greases, acids, alkalis and weathering. Additionally, it is halogen-free, which increases safety in the event of a fire – leaving only a SiO2 coating. It meets the requirements of DIN VDE 0482-332-1-2, DIN EN 60332-1-2 and IEC 60332-1 (equivalent to DIN VDE 0472 part 804 test method B) and CSA FT1 – does not spread flames.
Applications and benefits
This cable finds application in many branches of industry:
- Power plants: Due to its high heat resistance and halogen-free properties.
- Steel industry: In places exposed to high temperatures and difficult operating conditions.
- Aerospace and shipbuilding industry: Where flexibility and resistance to extreme conditions are required.
- Ceramics, glass and cement plants: Due to resistance to high temperatures and aggressive environment.
- Flexible connections: Ideal as a connecting cable due to the high flexibility of the insulation.
Thanks to its properties, this cable ensures long-lasting and reliable operation in demanding applications. Its chemical resistance guarantees durability even in contact with various industrial substances. It should be remembered to lay it permanently only in open or ventilated cable ducts – otherwise the mechanical properties of the silicone may decrease at temperatures above 90°C.
