Silicone cable for extreme conditions
This multi-core silicone cable is designed to operate in demanding environments where standard cables fail. It features high temperature resistance, both continuous and short-term, making it an ideal choice for industrial and specialized applications. Made from high-quality materials, it provides reliable connections even in the most extreme conditions.
Construction and properties
The cable has 14 cores with a cross-section of 1.5 mm², made of tinned copper, which guarantees good conductivity and corrosion resistance. The core insulation is made of silicone, providing flexibility and resistance to high temperatures – up to +180°C continuously and up to +220°C short-term. Additionally, the cable retains its properties at low temperatures, even down to -60°C. The outer jacket is also made of silicone, providing additional protection and resistance to external factors. The cores are twisted longitudinally for better protection against mechanical damage. Core identification is done using colors according to DIN VDE 0293-308 – black or colored with white numbering (in the case of a two-core version, brown and blue).
This cable is halogen-free, which increases safety and minimizes the emission of toxic substances in the event of a fire. It meets the requirements of DIN VDE 0482 part 267/DIN EN 50267-2-1/IEC 60754-1 and DIN VDE 0482-332-1-2 / DIN EN 60332-1-2 / IEC 60332-1 / CSA FT1, which confirms its high quality and safety.
Applications and benefits
This cable finds wide application in various industries:
- Power plants: Due to its resistance to high temperatures and halogen-free properties, it is ideal for installations in power plants.
- Steel, aerospace and shipbuilding industries: Mechanical and thermal resistance make it reliable in harsh working conditions.
- Ceramics, glass and cement plants: Resistance to high temperatures and aggressive chemical environments guarantees long-term operation.
- Flexible connections: The high flexibility of the silicone insulation allows the cable to be used as a flexible connection in moving devices.
- Installations requiring high chemical resistance: The cable is resistant to many oils, greases, solvents and chemicals.
Additionally:
- It has good dielectric properties ensuring safe operation of the electrical installation.
- In case of fire, it leaves only a SiO2 coating – does not emit toxic gases.
- It is resistant to radiation up to 20x106 cJ/kg (up to 20 Mrad).
- The minimum bending radius is 7.5 x cable diameter (flexible) or 4 x cable diameter (stationary).
