Silicone cable for extreme conditions
This multi-core cable with silicone insulation is designed to operate in demanding environments where standard cables fail. It is characterized by high temperature resistance and flexibility, making it an ideal choice for industrial, energy and specialized industries. The cable meets UL Style 4476 and CSA AWM II A/B standards, guaranteeing safety and reliability.
Construction and properties
The cable is made of tinned copper strands, class 5 (flexible multi-strand), which ensures good conductivity and flexibility. The core insulation is made of silicone, and the outer jacket is also made of silicone, providing resistance to high temperatures – up to +180°C in continuous operation and up to +220°C for short periods. The cable retains its properties even at low temperatures, down to -60°C. Additionally, it is halogen-free, increasing safety in the event of a fire – leaving only a SiO2 coating.
Core identification is in accordance with DIN VDE 0293-308 (black or colored cores with white numbering), which facilitates installation and servicing. The protective core is yellow-green (from 3 cores and more). The cable has 18 cores with a cross-section of 2.5 mm² and an outer diameter of approximately 24 mm. The rated voltage U is 500 V.
Applications and benefits
This cable is widely used in:
- Power plants: thanks to its high temperature resistance and halogen-free properties.
- Industries: steel, aviation, shipbuilding, metallurgical (ceramics, glass, cement plants).
- As a flexible connection cable: due to the high flexibility of the silicone insulation.
- Where chemical resistance is required: the cable is resistant to oils, vegetable and animal fats, alcohols, plasticizers, diluted acids and alkalis, and atmospheric conditions.
Additional advantages:
- Good dielectric properties: ensure safe operation in various conditions.
- Radiation resistance: up to 20x10⁶ cJ/kg (up to 20 Mrad).
- Compliance with standards: DIN VDE 0482 part 267/DIN EN 50267-2-1/IEC 60754-1 (halogen-free), DIN VDE 0482-332-1-2 / DIN EN 60332-1-2 / IEC 60332-1 (flame retardant) and CSA FT1.
- Flexibility: facilitates assembly even in tight spaces.
