Highly durable PTFE cable for extreme conditions.

This HELUFLON-PTFE-5Y cable is a specialized solution designed for operation in demanding environments where standard cabling fails. It is characterized by exceptional resistance to high and low temperatures, chemicals and radiation. Ideal for both industrial applications and in the construction of switchgear cabinets.

This cable is particularly recommended in places exposed to extreme heat - furnaces, brickworks or kitchen appliances. It will also work in the chemical industry, where contact with aggressive substances is unavoidable. Its flame resistance, acids, alkalis, solvents, oils and gasoline guarantees the safety and reliability of the installation.

Construction and material properties

The cable construction is based on a silver-plated copper core (or on request tinned or nickel-plated), which ensures excellent electrical conductivity. The PTFE-HELUFLON® (polytetrafluoroethylene) insulation meets DIN VDE 0207 part 6 and MIL-W 16878 standards, guaranteeing the highest quality and safety of use. Additionally, this material is characterized by:

• High insulation resistance – minimum insulation resistance is 1 GOhm x km.
• Low electrical losses – translates to energy efficiency of the installation.
• Non-flammability – self-extinguishing and flame-retardant material, tested according to DIN VDE 0482-332-1-2, DIN EN 60332-1-2 and IEC 60332-1.
• Resistance to microcultures – prevents the development of fungi, which is important in humid environments.
• Complete resistance to ozone and weather conditions – ensures long-term operation even outdoors.
• Minimal water absorption – approx. 0.18 mg/cm² in 24 hours.
• No silicone, cadmium or paint-inhibiting substances - ensures compatibility with various materials and production processes.

Technical parameters and operating range

The HELUFLON-PTFE-5Y cable is available in a cross-section of 1xAWG16/19 (approximately 1.5 mm²). It has a working voltage typ EE = 1000V and a test voltage typ EE = 5kV. The operating temperature range of the core depends on the material it is made of:

• Copper: +130°C
• Tinned copper: +180°C
• Silver-plated copper: +200°C
• Nickel-plated copper: +260°C

The cable can operate at temperatures from -190°C to +260°C (short-term up to +300°C). The minimum bending radius is 10 x cable diameter. It is also resistant to radiation up to 1 x 10⁵ cJ/kg (up to 1 Mrad). Available core colors are: black ("1"), red ("2"), blue ("3"), brown ("4"), white ("5") and others on request ("8").
