Highly durable PTFE cable for extreme conditions
This specialized HELUFLON-PTFE-5Y T.E cable is a reliable solution for installations requiring resistance to high temperatures, aggressive chemicals, and harsh environmental conditions. This cable finds wide application in installations and construction of switchgear cabinets operating in extreme temperatures – for example, in furnaces, brick factories, or kitchen appliances. It will also be useful in the chemical industry, where it is exposed to flames, acids, alkalis, solvents, oils, and gasoline.
Construction and properties
The cable construction is based on a silver-plated copper core, providing excellent conductivity and corrosion resistance. PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) insulation guarantees exceptional thermal resistance – the cable withstands temperatures from -190°C to +260°C (short-term up to +300°C). Additionally, PTFE provides excellent dielectric properties and chemical resistance.

Tests confirm its self-extinguishing and flame-retardant properties in accordance with DIN VDE 0482-332-1-2, DIN EN 60332-1-2 and IEC 60332-1 standards.
Technical parameters
The HELUFLON-PTFE-5Y T.E cable with a cross-section of 1.23 mm² (AWG 16) has an approximate outer diameter of 2.24 mm. It is designed to operate at a voltage of 600V (type E) or 1000V (type EE), and the test voltage is 3.4kV or 5kV, respectively. Insulation resistance is at least 1GOhm x km, and the minimum bending radius is 10 x cable diameter. The cable is radiation resistant up to 1 x 10⁵ cJ/kg (up to 1 Mrad). The operating temperature range of the core depends on the core material: copper +130°C, tinned copper +180°C, silver-plated copper +200°C and nickel-plated copper +260°C.
