Robust PTFE cable for extreme conditions

This specialized HELUFLON-PTFE-5Y cable, made with polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) insulation, is designed for operation in demanding environments. It features exceptional resistance to temperature, chemicals, and radiation, making it an ideal choice for industrial applications, switchgear cabinets, and installations in furnaces, brickworks, and kitchen appliances. The cable is available in red (1XAWG14/19) for easy identification in installations.

Construction and material properties

The key to the exceptional properties of this cable is the combination of high-quality materials. The silver-plated copper core ensures excellent electrical conductivity, and the PTFE-HELUFLON® insulation guarantees reliable protection against high temperatures (up to +260°C, briefly even +300°C) and aggressive chemicals – acids, alkalis, solvents, oils, and benzines. Additionally, PTFE is characterized by low water permeability and resistance to fungal growth. The cable meets DIN VDE 0207 part 6 and MIL-W 16878 standards.

Application and technical parameters

The HELUFLON-PTFE-5Y cable is used in a wide range of electrical installations where high reliability and resistance to extreme conditions are required. This is particularly important in the chemical industry, where it is exposed to contact with aggressive substances. The cable is designed to operate at 1000 V (EE type) and has an insulation resistance of at least 1 GOhm x km. The minimum bending radius is 10 x cable diameter. Thanks to its radiation resistance (up to 1 x 10⁵ cJ/kg), it can be used in applications exposed to ionizing radiation. Please note that tinning or nickel plating of the core is available on request. The selection of the appropriate cable color is done by adding a symbol to the catalog number: 1 - black, 2 - red, 3 - blue, 4 - brown, 5 - white, 6 - transparent, 7 - two-color or 8 – other colors.
