Single-core PTFE wire HELUFLON®-PTFE-5Y 1xAWG16/19 (1.23 mm²) transparent, 600 V 25246
High-temperature wire HELUFLON-PTFE-5Y
This specialized single-core wire, made of PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene), is designed to operate in extreme conditions where standard wires fail. It is characterized by exceptional resistance to temperature, chemicals, and radiation. Ideal for both industrial applications and installations requiring the highest level of safety and reliability.
Construction and application
The HELUFLON-PTFE-5Y wire has a silver-plated copper core, ensuring excellent conductivity and corrosion resistance. The PTFE insulation guarantees electrical stability over a wide temperature range – from -190°C to +260°C (short-term up to +300°C). Thanks to these properties, it finds application in:
installations and construction of switchboard cabinets operating in extreme thermal conditions,
furnaces, brick factories, kitchen and measuring devices,
chemical industry – as a wire resistant to aggressive chemicals (acids, alkalis, solvents, oils and gasoline).
where high flame resistance is required.
The wire meets the requirements of the Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU (CE marking).
Key features and benefits
Exceptional thermal resistance: Operation in a temperature range from -190°C to +260°C (short-term +300°C) allows for use in the most demanding environments.
Chemical resistance: PTFE is resistant to most chemicals, ensuring long-term reliability in aggressive environments.
High insulation: PTFE is characterized by very high insulation resistance (min. 1 GOhm x km), minimizing energy losses and ensuring safe use.
Low electrical losses: Thanks to the dielectric properties of PTFE, the wire minimizes energy losses during current transmission.
Radiation resistance: The wire retains its properties even under the influence of ionizing radiation (up to 1 x 10⁵ cJ/kg).
Non-flammability: Self-extinguishing and flame-retardant material – meets standards DIN VDE 0482-332-1-2, DIN EN 60332-1-2 and IEC 60332-1.
Biological inertness: The material does not promote the development of microcultures or fungi.
Minimal water absorption: Ensures stable electrical parameters even in a humid environment.
Additionally, the wire is completely resistant to ozone and weathering. The materials used in production do not contain silicone, cadmium or substances that interfere with painting.
To order the wire in a color other than transparent, please add the appropriate symbol to the catalog number: 1 = black, 2 = red, 3 = blue, 4 = brown, 5 = white, 7 = two-color or 8 = other colors. The core can be supplied bare or tinned/nickel-plated on request.
