HELUFLON-PTFE-5Y Cable – Reliability in Extreme Conditions
This specialized cable with PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) fluoropolymer insulation is designed for operation in demanding environments where standard cabling fails. It meets DIN VDE 0881 and IEC 60673 standards, guaranteeing safety and performance. It is ideally suited for both industrial installations and the construction of switchgear cabinets exposed to high temperatures or aggressive chemicals.
Construction and Material Properties
The cable is characterized by a solid construction. Its copper core is silver-plated, which increases its conductivity and corrosion resistance. HELUFLON® PTFE insulation provides exceptional resistance to temperature (from -190°C to +260°C, briefly up to +300°C), chemicals, radiation and microorganisms. Additionally, the materials used in production are silicone and cadmium-free, making it environmentally friendly and safe to use. It is worth mentioning the low water permeability – approx. 0.18 mg/cm² over 24 hours – which minimizes the risk of damage caused by moisture. The cable is also self-extinguishing and flame-retardant, as confirmed by tests compliant with DIN VDE 0482-332-1-2, DIN EN 60332-1-2 and IEC 60332-1 standards.
Application and Electrical Parameters
The HELUFLON-PTFE-5Y cable finds wide application in installations operating in extreme thermal conditions – furnaces, brickworks, kitchen and measuring devices. It also performs perfectly in the chemical industry due to its resistance to flames, acids, alkalis, solvents, oils and gasoline. It is available in two voltage versions: type E (600V) and type EE (1000V), with test voltages of 3.4kV and 5kV respectively. The insulation resistance is at least 1GOhm x km. The minimum bending radius is 10 x cable diameter. Thanks to its properties, this cable guarantees reliable operation even in the most demanding applications. Additionally, the core can be supplied bare or tinned/nickel-plated on request.
