PTFE cable for extreme conditions

This specialized HELUFLON-PTFE-5Y cable, made with polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) insulation, is designed for applications requiring exceptional resistance to temperature, chemicals and radiation. It is ideal for installations and construction of switchgear cabinets operating in harsh conditions, such as furnaces, brickworks, kitchen appliances or measuring devices. It is also indispensable in the chemical industry, where it is exposed to flames, acids, bases, solvents, oils and gasoline. This cable meets the requirements of the Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU (CE marking).

Construction and properties

The cable is characterized by a construction ensuring reliability and long-term operation. The copper core is silver-plated for better conductivity and corrosion resistance. The PTFE-HELUFLON® insulation meets the standards of DIN VDE 0207 part 6 and MIL-W 16878. Thanks to the materials used, the cable exhibits exceptional resistance to high and low temperatures (operating range from -190°C to +260°C, briefly up to +300°C), radiation and aggressive chemicals. Additionally, it is non-flammable, resistant to the development of microorganisms and fungi, and characterized by minimal water absorption and permeability. The materials used in production are silicone-free, cadmium-free and do not disrupt painting.

User parameters and applications

The HELUFLON-PTFE-5Y cable is available in a cross-section corresponding to AWG 20/19 (1xAWG20/19) and operating voltage of 1000V (type EE). It has an insulation resistance of at least 1 GOhm x km and a minimum bending radius of 10 x cable diameter. Its properties make it an excellent choice for installers looking for a reliable solution in demanding industrial and laboratory applications. Available in transparent color (other colors can be ordered: black - 1, red - 2, blue - 3, brown - 4, white - 5, two-color - 7 or others - 8). The core can be supplied bare or tinned/nickel-plated on request.
