High-temperature cable HELUFLON-PTFE-5Y

This specialized cable, made with PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) fluoropolymer insulation, is designed to operate in extreme conditions. It finds application in installations and construction of switchgear cabinets, especially where high temperatures occur – for example, in furnaces, brickworks, kitchen appliances or measuring devices. It will also be useful in the chemical industry, where resistance to aggressive chemicals such as acids, alkalis, solvents, oils and gasoline is required.

Construction and properties

The HELUFLON-PTFE-5Y cable is characterized by a silver-plated copper core, which ensures excellent conductivity and corrosion resistance. The PTFE-HELUFLON® insulation meets the requirements of DIN VDE 0207 part 6 and MIL-W 16878. Thanks to this, the cable exhibits exceptional resistance to:

• high temperatures: operating range from –190°C to +260°C (short-term up to +300°C)
• chemical factors: acids, alkalis, solvents, oils and gasoline
• radiation: up to 1 x 10⁵ cJ/kg (up to 1 Mrad)
• atmospheric conditions: complete resistance to ozone and external factors
• **microcultures and fungal growth

Additionally, the cable is characterized by low electrical losses, high insulation resistance (min. 1 GOhm x km) and is non-flammable and self-extinguishing (compliant with DIN VDE 0482-332-1-2, DIN EN 60332-1-2 and IEC 60332-1 standards). The materials used in production are free of silicone, cadmium and substances that interfere with painting.

Technical parameters and application

This cable is available in white color and has a core cross-section of 0.57 mm² with an outer diameter of approximately 1.67 mm. The operating voltage is 600V (type E) or 1000V (type EE), and the test voltage is 3.4kV or 5kV, respectively. The minimum bending radius is 10 x cable diameter. Thanks to its properties, this cable is ideally suited not only for the aforementioned industrial applications, but also everywhere where reliability and safety are required in difficult operating conditions. The possibility of ordering a bare core or a tinned/nickel-plated core on request increases the flexibility of the product application. Remember to add the color symbol to the catalog number when placing an order (e.g., 1 = black).
