Durable PTFE cable for extreme conditions

This red HELUFLON-PTFE-5Y cable is a specialized solution for installations requiring the highest resistance to temperature, chemicals and radiation. It is ideal for harsh industrial conditions such as furnaces, brickworks, kitchen appliances or chemical laboratories. The cable is designed for use in switchgear cabinets exposed to extreme temperatures.

Construction and properties for demanding applications

The cable is characterized by a silver-plated copper core, which ensures excellent conductivity and corrosion resistance. The PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) insulation – a material with exceptional properties – guarantees reliability even in the most aggressive environment. PTFE is flame retardant, resistant to acids, alkalis, solvents, oils and gasoline. Additionally, the cable is non-flammable, resistant to microorganisms and fungal growth, and completely resistant to ozone and weathering. Water absorption is minimal – below 0.01%, and water permeability is approximately 0.18 mg/cm2 over 24 hours. The materials used in production are silicone, cadmium and paint-inhibiting substance free.

Technical parameters and compliance with standards

The cable meets the requirements of DIN VDE 0881 and IEC 60673 standards. Available in 1000V (EE type), with the possibility of testing up to 5kV. Insulation resistance is minimum 1GOhm x km. The cable maintains flexibility with a minimum bending radius of 10 x cable diameter. The operating temperature range is from -190°C to +260°C (short-term up to +300°C). Depending on the core material: copper +130°C, tinned copper +180°C, silver-plated copper +200°C or nickel-plated copper +260°C. The cable also has high radiation resistance – up to 1 x 10⁵ cJ/kg (up to 1 Mrad). The product complies with the Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU (CE marking).
