Flexible halogen-free control cable – safety and reliability

This 7-core flexible JZ-500 HMH cable is a solution for installations requiring high fire resistance and minimal emission of harmful substances in the event of a fire. The cable is designed for use in industry, construction and anywhere safety is a priority. Thanks to its halogen-free construction, it releases a minimal amount of toxic gases in the event of a fire, increasing the safety of people and equipment.

Construction and properties

The JZ-500 HMH cable is characterized by a solid construction ensuring long-lasting and reliable operation. It is made of stranded copper conductors, class 5 (multi-strand flexible), insulated with halogen-free TI6 mixture. The conductors are black with white number printing for easy identification. The protective conductor (if present) is yellow-green. The whole is surrounded by a halogen-free outer sheath TM7 in gray (RAL 7001). The cable is metered, which makes it easy to precisely adjust the length to the needs of the installation.

It is worth noting the wide range of operating temperatures – from -40°C to +70°C (stationary) and from -15°C to +70°C (flexible). The minimum bending radius is 4x cable diameter for fixed laying and 12.5x cable diameter during operation. The cable is also resistant to radiation up to 100 x 10⁶ cJ/kg (up to 100 Mrad).

Applications and compliance with standards

The JZ-500 HMH cable is used as a measuring, control and steering cable in various industries: mechanical, metallurgical, steel and in the construction of installations. It will work well in both fixed and mobile installations (excluding those exposed to continuous tensile stress or strong mechanical loads). It can be used in dry, wet and humid rooms, also surface-mounted.

It meets the requirements of the Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU (CE marking) and has passed a number of tests confirming its properties:

• Fire tests according to DIN VDE 0482-332-3-24, BS 4066 part 3, DIN EN 60332-3-24, IEC 60332-3-24

• Self-extinguishing and flame retardancy according to DIN VDE 0482-332-1-2, DIN EN 60332-3-24, IEC 60332-3-24

• Corrosivity of fire gases according to DIN VDE 0482-754-2, DIN EN 60754-2, IEC 60754-2

• Halogen-free according to DIN VDE 0482-754-1, DIN EN 60754-1, IEC 60754-1

• Smoke density according to DIN VDE 0482 part 1034-1+2/ DIN EN 61034-1+2, IEC 61034-1+2/ BS 7622 part 1+2
