Grid-inertial sludge removers – protection of installations and equipment
The IOW-80 grid-inertial sludge remover is a device designed to protect heating, district heating, cooling, water supply and industrial installations from the effects of contamination with solid particles. Its operation is based on the effective removal of contaminants with a diameter of more than 0.1 mm, which translates into reduced operating, repair and maintenance costs of the entire system. This solution works both in large industrial installations and in smaller central heating systems.
Construction and principle of operation
The construction of the IOW-80 sludge remover uses a two-stage cleaning process – centrifugal and collective. Water introduced into the device gains rotational movement, which causes contaminants to precipitate on the tank walls and settle to the bottom. Then it flows through a filter mesh with a density of 196 meshes per cm², where smaller particles are retained. Thanks to this solution, the sludge remover effectively removes sediment, rust and other mechanical impurities. The device is available with a magnetic insert (IOW-80/M), which additionally captures ferromagnetic contaminants, increasing filtration efficiency.
- Made of 18G2A steel (according to PN-86/H-84018), which ensures durability and corrosion resistance.
- Available in hot-dip galvanized (with PZH certificate) or anti-corrosion painted version.
- Available connecting flanges for welding or flanged connection.
- Equipped with a drain valve for removing accumulated contaminants and an air vent with a ball valve.
Application and compliance with standards
The IOW-80 sludge remover is primarily used:
- In heat nodes – both on the network water supply and on the return from the central heating installation.
- In boiler rooms – on the return line of the boiler circuit.
- In industrial installations – wherever effective water purification from mechanical impurities is required.
The device meets the requirements of BN - 69/8864-05 standard and can replace older types of sludge removers. It is adapted to work at a maximum pressure of 1.6 MPa and a temperature of up to 150°C. Before installation, make sure that the sludge remover is mounted correctly – reverse mounting can lead to damage to the filter mesh! Flanges with a larger diameter (DN 100/125/150) require support according to KER or KESC catalogs.
