Fire-resistant power cable – safety and reliability in critical installations
This 19-core power cable, with a cross-section of 2.5 mm² and a rated voltage of 0.6/1kV, is designed for applications requiring the highest level of fire safety. Made of copper, it meets stringent standards for fire resistance and emission of harmful substances during a fire. It is a key component in emergency power systems, fire protection installations, and anywhere where uninterrupted power supply is a priority.
Construction and properties
The NKGsżo FE180/PH90 cable stands out with its advanced construction ensuring reliable operation even in extreme conditions. Copper cores, available in solid-core (class 1) or stranded-core (class 2) versions according to PN-EN 60228 and IEC 60228 standards, are insulated with ceramic-silicone rubber HXI1 (DIN VDE 0266). This combination of materials provides high thermal resistance – the permissible temperature of the operating cores is 90°C, and even 250°C during a short circuit. The cable maintains functionality for 90 minutes (PH90) in fire conditions, confirming compliance with PN-EN50200. A voltage test at 4kV guarantees high insulation and safety of use.
Application and benefits
This cable is primarily used in installations requiring continued power supply in the event of a fire:
- Fire protection systems: Powering fire pumps, alarm systems and fire detection.
- Security installations: Powering emergency lighting, access control and monitoring systems.
- Public buildings: Hospitals, schools, shopping centers – anywhere where people's safety is paramount.
- Industry: Powering critical equipment in industrial plants.
Thanks to its construction and properties, the NKGsżo FE180/PH90 cable provides:
- Fire resistance: Maintaining circuit continuity for 90 minutes in fire conditions (PH90).
- Halogen-free: No emission of toxic gases during combustion – increased safety for people and the environment.
- High thermal resistance: Possibility of operation at elevated temperatures.
- Reliability: Guarantee of stable power supply even in extreme conditions.
- Flexibility: Availability of solid-core and stranded-core conductors allows the cable to be adapted to specific installation needs. The minimum bending radius for single-core cables is 15xØ, and for multi-core cables 12xØ, making installation easier even in tight spaces.
- Distinctive color: The orange coating makes it easier to identify the cable during installation and maintenance.
