PVC-U Pressure Systems - single socket bend
The PVC 110/90 PN10 single socket pressure bend in ash color is a key component of water and sewage transmission systems in pressure and vacuum installations. The element, made of unplasticized polyvinyl chloride (PVC-U), provides high resistance to chemical substances within a pH range of 2-12 and operating temperatures up to +60°C, depending on the diameter and wall thickness.
Construction and socket connections
The element is characterized by a homogeneous construction with smooth external and internal walls, manufactured through an extrusion process. One end of the bend features a standard socket with a groove for an EPDM elastomeric ring seal, while the other end is plain for insertion into the next element. The EPDM seal ensures connection tightness under both positive and negative pressure, and its design prevents it from slipping out of the socket groove during installation.
The joining system based on socket connections enables rapid installation without the use of specialized welding equipment. The smoothness of the pipe's internal surface reduces flow resistance, which translates to lower energy consumption required for pumping the medium.
Applications and system compatibility
The element is used in the construction of underground water supply networks, above-ground water transmission both outdoors and indoors, and pressure drainage and sewerage. The piping system is designed for the transmission of treated drinking water, raw water, irrigation water, industrial water, domestic sewage, rainwater, and other substances that do not have a destructive effect on PVC-U.
The bend is compatible with the entire range of pressure pipes and fittings produced according to PN-EN ISO 1452-2:2010 (pipes) and PN-EN ISO 1452-3:2011 (fittings) standards. It has approval for contact with drinking water, confirmed by the PZH hygienic certificate HK/W/0286/01/2008.
Operating parameters and operational advantages
The element operates at a nominal pressure PN 10 for a medium temperature of +20°C. For higher temperatures, reduction coefficients must be taken into account: at +25°C it maintains full pressure rating (k=1.0), at +30°C pressure rating drops to 90% (k=0.9), and at a maximum operating temperature of +45°C, it drops to 60% of the nominal pressure rating (k=0.6).
The PVC-U material is characterized by a low mass, approximately 5-7 times less than steel and cast iron, and a service life of at least 50 years. The element is resistant to internal and external corrosion, requires no additional protective coatings, and shows resistance to electrolytic corrosion caused by stray currents. The smoothness of the internal surface prevents scaling and the reduction of the pipe's internal cross-section.
The design of the bend provides effective protection against hydraulic shocks - in sporadic occurrences, the maximum pressure may exceed the nominal PN pressure by a maximum of 50%.
