Fiberglass reinforced polypropylene pipe – reliability and fast installation
PPR stabiGLASS SDR7.4 PN16 pipe is a modern solution for water and heating installations, made of random polypropylene (PP-R) stabilized with fiberglass. This type of pipe is characterized by a minimal linear expansion coefficient, making it ideal for use in central heating systems, even in surface-mounted installations. Thanks to the fiberglass stabilization, the pipe maintains its properties over a wide range of temperatures and pressures.
Application and characteristics
The stabiGLASS pipe is intended for installation of cold water, hot water and central heating. Its construction based on random polypropylene provides high corrosion resistance and long-term operation. It is worth emphasizing that, unlike pipes stabilized with aluminum, it does not require scraping the outer layer before welding, which significantly speeds up and simplifies installation. This saves time and costs for the installer.
- Minimal linear expansion: Ensures installation stability regardless of temperature changes.
- Fast installation: No need to scrape saves time and reduces labor costs.
- Versatility: Can be used in cold water (up to 20 bar), hot water (up to 10 bar) and central heating (up to 6 bar) installations.
- Durability: Made of high-quality random polypropylene stabilized with fiberglass, guarantees a long service life.
- Safety: It has CSTB, ITB, Lloyds and PZH certificates, confirming compliance with safety and hygiene standards.
Construction and parameters
The stabiGLASS SDR7.4 PN16 pipe with an outer diameter of 20 mm and a wall thickness of 2.8 mm is characterized by high pressure resistance – the maximum working pressure is 16 bar at a maximum medium temperature. The linear thermal expansion coefficient is 0.03 mm/mxK, and the thermal conductivity λ is 0.24 W/mxK. The minimum bending radius of the pipe is 8 times its outer diameter (Rmin = 8 x 20 mm = 160 mm). The internal wall roughness k is only 0.007 mm, which affects the reduction of pressure losses of the flowing medium. The pipe is available in gray color and is covered by a 10-year warranty (in the case of individual construction – 15 years). Connecting the elements is done by polyfusion welding according to PN‑EN 15874.
