Construction wood screw 8.0x180mm washer head, TX /50pkg/ CS-8180

Hardened screws for fastening wooden structures

CS structural screws are high-strength hardened elements, specially created for fastening wooden structures in construction and DIY. The CS-8180 model with dimensions 8×180 mm and a washer head guarantees durable and secure connections in the most demanding carpentry applications.

Application and purpose

Fastening wooden structural elements is the primary field of action for these screws - particularly effective when joining rafters to purlins in roof structures, where high load-bearing capacity and resistance to dynamic loads are required. They also perform well in fastening chipboard and layered boards, offering greater clamping force than traditional construction nails.

The construction of gazebos, pergolas, shelters, and fences is another area of application - here, their ability to work without pre-drilling holes and their resistance to wood splitting when mounting large-section elements is particularly appreciated.

Construction and materials

Hardened steel forms the foundation of this solution's strength - the hardening process ensures resistance to head shearing during installation and long-term stability of connections even under variable loads.

Electro-galvanized coating (available in yellow or white passivation) provides effective anti-corrosion protection - the zinc coating protects the steel from atmospheric corrosion.

The washer head with a diameter of approximately 15 mm significantly increases the clamping surface, which translates to high pull-through strength and effectively tightens the connection between elements - especially important when mounting boards or cladding.

Installation advantages

The partial thread with a length of 80 mm ensures optimal clamping of elements - the remaining part of the shank remains smooth, allowing one element to slide freely relative to the other before the connection is tightened to the final torque.

The drill flute located at the end of the thread reduces the risk of wood splitting, especially when working with hardwoods such as oak or beech - the special geometry of the flute creates a pilot hole for the thread without the need for additional pre-drilling.

The ribbed thread with a wax layer significantly reduces the torque required for installation - the contact surface between the thread and the wood is smaller thanks to the ribs (friction reduction), and the lubricant layer further facilitates heat dissipation from friction.

The Torx TX40 drive guarantees optimal torque transfer without the risk of "camming out" the bit - the six-point TORX socket profile provides a larger contact surface than traditional Phillips or Pozidriv (reduction of tool wear).
