Halogen-free rubber cable, oil-resistant H07RN-F improved version 3G2.5 UV resistant, AD8 4533031
Flexible rubber cable for demanding industrial conditions
This cable is an advanced version of the classic H07RN-F, designed for installations exposed to extreme weather conditions and prolonged contact with water. The construction is based on three copper cores with a cross-section of 2,5 mm² in flexibility class 5, ensuring flexibility while maintaining high current-carrying capacity.
Construction and materials
The cores are made of many fine copper strands - this treatment classifies them as class 5 according to VDE 0295/IEC 60228, which means good flexibility while maintaining the current capacity typical for this cross-section. The insulation and outer sheath are made of special rubber compounds (EPR), which determine the chemical and mechanical resistance of the whole.
Core identification is color-coded - three working cores in phase colors plus a yellow-green protective core in accordance with HD 308 S2. The black color of the outer sheath is intentional - it masks operational dirt and supports UV radiation absorption by the rubber layer.
The outer diameter oscillates around 10,9-14 mm, and the mass is 225 kg/km, which for three cores translates to a solid yet manageable cable.
Environmental and thermal resistance
This is where the greatest strength of this product lies. The cable operates in the range of from -50°C to +90°C for fixed installation and from -40°C to +90°C for flexible connections - wider than comparable H07RN-F, H07ZZ-F, or NSSHÖU. The core maintains flexibility from -40°C, which is important for installation in freezing conditions.
The AD8 version allows for prolonged immersion in water at depths of up to 100 m - better water resistance than standard H07RN-F or H07RN8-F. NOTE: the manufacturer reserves the permissibility of chlorinated water; it is not suitable for drinking water or flowing streams.
Resistance also includes:
- UV radiation and ozone,
- lubricating and mineral oils (EN 60811-404),
- abrasion and atmospheric substances,
- twisting - certified for wind turbines (WTG) in classes TW-0/TW-1/TW-2: ±150° twisting angle even at 5000 cycles from +5°C.
Fire safety and standards
The cable is halogen-free according to IEC 60754-1/EN 60754, which means no emission of corrosive gases during combustion - crucial in facilities with people or valuable objects. Additionally, it is characterized by low smoke density (LS) according to EN 61034-2, so visibility during a fire remains better than in PVC cables.
Self-extinguishing - meets the requirements of IEC 60332-1-2. However, there is no CPR classification (Euroclass), so it is not intended for permanent building installations requiring this assessment.
The rated voltage is 450/750 V (U0/U), and the test voltage is 2500 V AC.
Practical applications
The operating temperature range and UV resistance make this cable a natural choice for:
- wind energy - hanging connections between the nacelle and the turbine tower,
- outdoor installations exposed to weather conditions,
- industry and agriculture under medium mechanical loads,
- powering portable devices - where flexibility and resistance to movement are required,
- rooms with a high concentration of people or animals - thanks to being halogen-free.
The minimum bending radius is 4 × diameter for fixed installations (~56 mm) or 6 × diameter for flexible connections (~84 mm).
