The DPX3 160 thermal-magnetic circuit breaker is an electrical protection device designed to protect circuits against overload and short circuit. It is a stationary device, mounted on a TH rail, providing effective and safe operation of electrical installations in commercial and industrial buildings. Characteristics and application

The DPX3 160 circuit breaker is a three-pole device with a rated current of 160A and a short-circuit breaking capacity of 25kA at 400V. It has a built-in thermal-magnetic trip unit with adjustment in the range of 128-160A, allowing precise adjustment to the load characteristics. This trip unit reacts to both overloads (thermal action) and sudden current increases (magnetic action), providing comprehensive protection. This makes it suitable for protecting circuits powering various types of receivers, including devices with motors that generate high starting currents. Characteristic C allows it to react more slowly to short current surges, so it tolerates starting motor-driven devices well.

Construction and functionality

The construction of the DPX3 160 circuit breaker is designed for ease of installation and configuration. It has screw connections for the main conductors, located on the front of the housing, which facilitates access during installation and maintenance. In addition, the circuit breaker is equipped with one normally open auxiliary contact and one changeover auxiliary contact, allowing integration with control and signaling systems. The trip indicator informs about the operation of the protection, making it easier to identify the cause of the failure. The integrated undervoltage release further increases the safety of the installation. The possibility of optional mounting of a motor drive allows for remote control of the circuit breaker.
