Protection of electrical installations against overvoltage

This single-pole surge protector of type T2, with a maximum impulse discharge capacity of 40 kA, is a key element in protecting electrical installations in residential and commercial buildings. It provides protection against the effects of both direct and indirect lightning strikes, as well as overvoltages originating from switching processes. Mounting on a TH-35 mm DIN rail facilitates integration with existing distribution boards.

Functionality and application

This surge protector, compliant with IEC/EN 61643-11, effectively limits the voltage to 1.7 kV, protecting connected devices from damage caused by overvoltages. Its varistor-based design ensures a quick and effective response to sudden voltage changes. Designed to operate in 230 V~ (50/60 Hz) networks, it is compatible with TN, TN-C and TN-C-S network systems. This makes it suitable for a wide range of electrical installations.

User comfort and diagnostics

Visual indication of the insert status (green – functional, orange – to be replaced) facilitates quick identification of the need to replace the protective element. The compact size – occupying only 1 module – allows for efficient use of space in the distribution board. Maximum wire cross-section of 35 mm² (solid/stranded) and 25 mm² (flexible) provides flexibility in choosing power supply wires. Recommended overcurrent protection is S 300 TX³/DX³ C 25A – it is worth remembering this when designing the installation.
