The DDR-240D-48 converter from MEAN WELL is a robust and reliable power source designed for operation in harsh industrial environments, particularly in railway applications. The device converts an input voltage range of 67.2~154V DC to a stable output voltage of 48V DC with a power of 240W, delivering a current of up to 5A. The compact housing, only 40 mm wide, simplifies mounting on a DIN rail, saving valuable space in control cabinets.

Safety and compliance with standards

The converter meets the stringent railway standards EN50155 and EN45545-2, guaranteeing its safe and reliable operation in applications exposed to vibration, electromagnetic interference and extreme temperatures. Protections against short circuit, overload, overvoltage and reverse polarity protect both the converter itself and the devices connected to it. Input/output isolation at 4 kVdc provides additional safety and minimizes the risk of damage.

Functionality and flexibility

The DDR-240D-48 offers a range of features to increase its usability. The ability to briefly overload to 150% allows for trouble-free starting of devices with high inrush current. Output voltage adjustment allows precise adjustment of the power supply parameters to the needs of a specific application. In addition, the DC OK relay output signals correct operation of the converter, which facilitates diagnostics and system monitoring. Parallel operation (up to 960W with a 3+1 configuration) allows increasing the output power in more demanding applications. The device does not require a minimum load, which gives more freedom in the design of power systems. Cooling is done by free air convection, eliminating the need for additional fans and reducing operating costs.
