Active cooling module HPAC S40 for NIBE S1155/1255, S series 067624
Two-stage cooling system for NIBE heat pumps
The HPAC S40 active cooling module is an advanced solution dedicated to NIBE S1155 and S1255 series heat pumps, providing comprehensive climate control in the building year-round. The device works in conjunction with fan coil units, offering both passive cooling and active cooling, which translates to significantly higher system energy efficiency.
Principle of operation and two-stage cooling
The HPAC S40 operates in two key phases that can be flexibly adapted to the current needs of the building. Passive cooling utilizes the natural temperature of the ground source (ground collector), where only the ground source circulation pump operates without starting the heat pump compressor. In this phase, the ground source system "connects" with the high-temperature side system; therefore, both the ground collector and the heating/cooling system must be filled with the same non-freezing medium.
Active cooling starts the heat pump compressor, cooling the medium circulating in the fan coil units, while the produced heat is released into the ground collector, serving the function of heat source regeneration. This innovative design allows for achieving up to 50% higher efficiency compared to traditional air conditioning systems.
Compatibility and system integration
The HPAC S40 module is dedicated to working with NIBE SXX55 series ground source heat pumps, specifically models S1155/S1255 and their newer counterparts S1156/S1256. The system is designed as a modular construction, allowing for flexible configuration to ensure optimal thermal comfort in the building year-round.
The device is controlled directly by the heat pump, eliminating the need for additional external controllers. Operating parameters are visible on the main heat pump display, simplifying the monitoring and control of the entire air conditioning system.
User benefits and operational efficiency
The compact dimensions of the module allow for easy installation without the need to sacrifice large installation space, which is particularly important in modernized buildings with limited technical area. The system does not require an additional external refrigeration unit, which reduces investment costs and simplifies operation.
Passive cooling is characterized by minimal electricity consumption (only the operation of the circulation pump), while the active mode, despite higher energy consumption, still maintains high efficiency due to heat recovery for the regeneration needs of the ground source.
