Construction and Materials

The H05V-U (DY) single-core cable with a nominal cross-section of 1 mm² consists of a single-strand copper conductor, Class 1 – soft, manufactured according to EN 60228. Copper provides very low electrical resistance and stable connections in screw terminals and push-in quick connectors, where a large contact surface ensures a secure connection without the risk of loosening.

The insulation, made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), surrounds the conductor in white, making it easier to identify the cable in cable bundles. The outer diameter is approximately 2.25 mm, and the weight per unit length is approximately 13 kg/km – parameters that are important when designing cable routes and selecting installation conduits.

Application and Operating Conditions

The cable is designed for permanent installation in installation conduits, cable trays, and protective covers – both concealed and surface-mounted. It is used in internal connections of electrical devices, control cabinets, and low-voltage switchboards, as well as inside or outside lighting fixtures.

The rated voltage of 300/500 V allows it to be used in control, signaling, and monitoring circuits – where precise signal transmission and reliable connections are required. The maximum operating temperature of the conductor is 70°C, and the permissible ambient temperature after installation is in the range of -40°C to +70°C, which makes the cable suitable for installations in unheated technical rooms.

During installation, avoid sharp bends – the minimum bending radius for permanent installations is 5 mm. It is recommended to install the cable at a temperature above +5°C to avoid micro-cracks in the PVC insulation during the cable's formation in conduits.

Compliance with Standards and Certifications

The product meets the requirements of the harmonized standard EN 50575:2014+A1:2016 concerning the reaction to fire of construction products – the fire reaction class Eca confirms that the cable is non-flame propagating according to IEC/EN 60332-1-2. The notified laboratory's identification number is NB 2652, and the document confirming the performance characteristics is available under the DoP number DOP000033_PL_Rev.4.

The manufacturer – NKT S.A., based in Warszowice – provides a full declaration of performance characteristics for the cable in accordance with the CPR regulation, which allows it to be used in buildings subject to regulations concerning the fire safety of electrical installations.
