Down conductor, insulated – effective protection of the installation
This grey, insulated down conductor of type isCon Pro+ 75 GR with a cross-section of 35 mm² is a key element in the lightning protection system. Its use allows for safe discharge of lightning currents, minimizing the risk of damage and ensuring the protection of people and equipment. The conductor is particularly useful in situations where maintaining appropriate insulation distances is difficult, e.g. on roofs of buildings with technical installations.
Construction and properties
The isCon Pro+ 75 GR conductor is characterized by a solid construction, based on seven strands and high-quality insulation. The sheath material is EVA, providing durability and resistance to atmospheric conditions. The outer diameter of the conductor with the jacket is 26 mm, and its weight is 86.8 kg per 100 meters of length. It is worth noting its ability to discharge impulse currents up to 150 kA (according to IEC/EN 62561-1), which confirms its high effectiveness. Additionally, the conductor has properties that prevent sliding discharges and provides protection against touch voltage during rain (according to VDE 0432-1).
Application and benefits
The isCon Pro+ 75 GR conductor is widely used in residential, industrial and public utility construction. Its main advantage is the ability to reduce the required insulation distance – even to 0.75 m in air and 1.5 m in solid building material. This allows for flexible adaptation of the lightning protection installation to the specifics of a given building and minimizes interference with existing infrastructure. This makes it possible to run the conductor close to metal and electrical elements without the risk of charge jumping. This conductor is also suitable for use in potentially explosive atmospheres EX 1/2 and 21/22 (according to the installation instructions). It is worth adding that the conductor meets the requirements of DIN EN 60332-1-2 regarding flame propagation.
