This Class 1+2 (B+C) surge arrester is a key element ensuring electrical safety in residential and commercial buildings. It provides effective protection against the effects of lightning strikes and network overvoltages, minimizing the risk of damage to electrical and electronic equipment. The device is designed to work with 230V installations, and its compact size – only 2 modules – makes it easy to mount in distribution boards.

Functionality and application

This arrester not only protects against direct lightning strikes (Class 1), but also effectively suppresses overvoltages caused by switching inductive loads (Class 2). This makes it a universal solution for a wide range of applications, including:

• Protection of residential and commercial buildings
• Protection of electrical installations against the effects of lightning strikes
• Equipotential bonding in lightning protection systems (according to VDE 0185-305 / IEC 62305)
• Application in TT, TN-S, TN-C-S and TN-C networks.

The device is characterized by a high impulse current discharge capacity – up to 12.5 kA (10/350 µs) per pole, which translates to reliable protection even in the event of strong discharges. Additionally, the presence of a signaling contact allows for quick identification of damage and the need for replacement.

Design and characteristic features

The arrester has been designed for easy installation and reliable operation. Mounting is done on a standard DIN TH-35 mm mounting rail. It is made of self-extinguishing plastic (UL 94 V-0), which increases safety. It is worth paying attention to a few key features:

• Low protection level: 1.3 kV L-N and 0.8 kV N-PE provide effective protection for sensitive electronic devices.
• Replaceable cartridges: Allow for quick replacement of a damaged element without the need to disassemble the entire device. The cartridges have optical damage indication for easy identification of the technical condition.
