Protection of electrical installations against overvoltage – reliability and safety
This three-pole type 2 surge protector, class C, is a key element ensuring the protection of electrical installations in residential and commercial buildings. It is designed to equalize potentials and protect against the effects of overvoltages that can damage sensitive electronic devices. Its task is to dissipate energy from voltage impulses, protecting circuits from overload and short circuit – just like standard circuit breakers do, but in the event of sudden voltage surges.
This surge protector can be used in both main and sub-distribution boards, where it provides effective protection against atmospheric overvoltages and network disturbances. Thanks to its compact size (3 modules) it is easy to mount on a DIN TH-35 mm mounting rail. Optical signaling informs about any damage to the device, allowing for a quick response and replacement of the insert.
- High protection efficiency: The ability to discharge a discharge current of up to 40 kA (8/20) per pole guarantees effective protection even during strong atmospheric discharges.
- Versatility: Compatible with TN, TN-S and TN-C-S networks, making it an ideal solution for various electrical installations.
- Durability and safety: Made of self-extinguishing plastic (UL 94 V-0), it ensures safety of use and resistance to mechanical damage.
- Easy installation and signaling: Mounting on a standard DIN TH-35 mm rail and optical indication of the device status facilitate installation and maintenance.
- Short-circuit protection: Short-circuit strength (Isccr) at 20 kA provides additional safety in the event of a short circuit in the installation.
The surge protector is characterized by a protection level of 1.4 kV L-N and 1.3 kV N-PE, which ensures comprehensive protection against overvoltages both between the phase and neutral conductors and between the neutral conductor and earth. The maximum discharge current (8/20) is 40 kA, and the rated discharge current - peak value (8/20) is 20 kA. The rated AC voltage is 230 V, and the maximum continuous operating DC voltage is 420 V and AC is 320 V. The maximum cross-section of flexible and single-/multi-strand conductors is as much as 35 mm², which allows connection of conductors with a large diameter.
