Igniter SKD 578 220-240V 50/60Hz 913700655366
For high-power discharge lamps – simple, reliable ignition
The igniter operates only during startup – once the lamp is ignited, no current flows through it, reducing circuit load and extending the lifespan of the entire system. This is a key feature for installations where frequent switching on and off could lead to failures of traditional starters.
Designed for high-pressure sodium lamps (SON), metal halide lamps (MH), mercury lamps (HPI/HPA), and CDM lamps – i.e., those requiring high ignition voltage and stable operation in outdoor conditions. Not suitable for fluorescent or compact fluorescent lamps – it lacks the appropriate circuits.
Operates within a power range of 35 to 600 W, meaning a single unit replaces many different models. This simplifies storage and installation – the installer does not need to stock several types of igniters for different power levels. One unit is sufficient.
Construction and mounting – simple yet precise
Screw terminals enable quick and safe installation without the need for specialized tools. Connections are standard, compatible with most MK4 ballasts in series-parallel systems – exactly the type for which it was designed.
Compact dimensions: 63.5 × 40.5 × 28 mm – easily fits even in tight outdoor luminaires. Does not hinder installation or require changes to the luminaire design.
Operating temperature up to 90°C ensures safe performance even in high ambient temperatures – e.g., in pole-mounted luminaires or enclosed housings. Storage temperature range: -35°C to +85°C – functionality remains unaffected after cold winters or hot summers.
Compliance and safety
Complies with European standards ENEC and CE – confirmed by certificate, not just a manufacturer's declaration. Mains voltage stability: ±10% tolerance allows operation even with minor voltage fluctuations in the network.
Ignition voltage: from 1.8 kV to 5 kV – sufficient to ignite difficult high-pressure lamps. Maximum ignition time: 1185 seconds – long, but realistic for large lamps at low temperatures. There is no "fast start" as with LED – this is not an LED.
Single ignition pulse – one per startup. No repetitions mean reduced stress on the lamp electrode and extended light source lifespan.
Generates no radio interference, operates silently and cleanly.
