Single-position limit switch PEM1G12Z A37-A83Z
Application and Operating Principle in Harsh Conditions
This limit switch is a solution dedicated to process automation where reliable machine position detection is critical. The device utilizes a snap-action mechanism (fast action), meaning the contact switching moment is independent of the actuator head pressing speed. Consequently, even with slow movement of the control element, the contact changes state instantly and reliably, eliminating the risk of "sticking" or slow switching, which could lead to arcing and accelerated wear.
The actuator head is equipped with a parallel roller plunger, facilitating installation and allowing detection of objects moving at various angles. The roller minimizes friction during contact with moving machine parts, which is crucial for frequent operating cycles. The housing, constructed from metal and coated with powder paint, ensures resistance to mechanical damage and corrosion. The IP67 protection rating guarantees dust tightness and protection against temporary immersion in water, making this model suitable for applications in production halls with harsh environmental conditions.
Electrical Configuration and Load Ratings
Inside the device, there is one normally open (NO) contact and one normally closed (NC) contact, providing full flexibility in control circuit design—it can be used for both starting and stopping processes depending on the logic requirements of the system. A key aspect is the current ratings, which vary depending on the load type (AC or DC) and voltage:
- In alternating current circuits (AC-15) at 230 V, the device handles a current up to 1.5 A, while at a lower voltage of 125 V, this capacity increases to 3 A.
- For direct current circuits (DC-13), where arc interruption is more difficult, the values are lower: at 24 V, a current up to 1.1 A can be switched, whereas at a higher voltage of 230 V, the limit drops to just 0.1 A.
It is important to note the forced opening function—the mechanism guarantees physical separation of contacts in case of failure or the need for immediate machine stop, which is a standard in safe industrial automation. The device has no built-in safety functions or electronic interfaces; it operates as a purely mechanical switching element with a connection cable exiting from the side of the housing.
Installation and Operating Conditions
When installing, consider the compact dimensions of the body: width is approximately 31.5 mm, height is 16 mm, and the length of the head with the roller is 70 mm. This construction allows the switch to be mounted even in tight machine spaces. Electrical wires are led directly from the housing as a ready-made cable of 1 meter length, simplifying installation—there is no need to purchase additional connectors or run cables through screw holes (although the rectangular construction itself facilitates mounting).
The device operates stably within a wide ambient temperature range: from -25 °C to +70 °C. This means it will perform well both in unheated warehouse halls in winter and near hot technological processes in summer. The lack of a visual status indicator (lamp) may require connecting external signaling or checking contact status with a multimeter during diagnostics. This is a typical model for the industrial PEM1/PEM2 series, where priority is given to mechanical durability and simple operation without unnecessary electronics.
