As an electrical wholesaler, we provide a wide selection of professional electrical equipment - including control equipment. In this category, you will find electrical relays in many different variants. These are specialist devices designed to open and close electrical circuits in installations. We offer electromagnetic, time, impulse, control, thermal and other relays. See available products and order a relay adapted to the requirements of the installation.
Operation and use of electrical relays
Relays are electrical or electronic devices used to cause a sudden change in the state of a single circuit or a larger number of circuits. When, for example, the maximum current intensity (or other input physical quantity) is exceeded, the output signal changes abruptly (usually on/off). There are different types of relays. Each has a different design, and therefore a different purpose. The ability to select the correct relays is crucial for the efficiency and safety of work with electrical circuits. Contactors should be distinguished from relays. Although they operate on the same principle, they are used to switch on high-current systems (e.g. electric motors). Relays, on the other hand, transmit low-current or zero-potential signals. They are equipped with much smaller electromagnets.
Popular Types of Electrical Relays
One of the most popular variants on the market are electromagnetic relays. The current flowing in the coil generates a magnetic field that attracts the so-called anchor (steel armature), responsible for closing/opening the appropriate contacts or their entire set. Another type of electrical relay commonly used in construction is time relays. The basic function of time relays is delayed switching on and off of the installation or machine - cyclically or with the maintenance of set breaks. They enable control of lighting, ventilation, heating, signaling system, etc. Another type is safety relays. They ensure disconnection of the power supply in the event of a sudden threat. Among the main types, priority relays should also be mentioned, used in situations where there are priority and less important circuits. When the priority receiver is switched on, less important receivers remain switched off. Thanks to this, excessive loads on the installation do not occur. It is also worth mentioning polarized relays with a permanent magnet. Additional magnetic force ensures reduced energy consumption. In addition, static (semiconductor) relays are often used in residential construction, which are characterized by the lack of moving parts, and therefore - exceptionally quiet operation. They can have electronic, magnetic or optical elements. They are resistant to shock, vibration and contamination.
