Compensating choke – improving energy efficiency

The INK 1-0.5-230 single-phase compensating choke is a component used to compensate for capacitive reactive power in electrical installations. Its task is to increase energy efficiency by reducing losses related to the phase shift of current and voltage. It is particularly used on long cable lines where the load is insufficient, as well as in reactive power compensation devices.

Technical characteristics and construction

The INK 1-0.5-230 choke is characterized by a solid construction in accordance with PN-EN 60076-6. The choke core is made of high-quality materials, and the winding with copper wire, which ensures reliable operation and long life. The whole is protected by a normally open bimetallic circuit breaker, which protects against overloads and short circuits. Vacuum impregnation in class H varnish provides high resistance to environmental conditions and hardens the winding in the furnace. The IP00 protection class indicates the lack of protection against access to live parts – the choke is intended for mounting in enclosures. Insulation class F (155°C) guarantees safe operation at elevated ambient temperatures (up to 40°C).

The choke power is 0.5 kVar at a rated voltage of 230 V and a frequency of 50 Hz. The nominal current/inductance is 2.17A / 337mH, respectively. The dimensions of the choke are 96 x 101 x 99 mm, and its weight is 3.6 kg.
