Cast iron elbow – reliability and durability in the SML system
The SML 50/68 cast iron elbow is an element of the spigotless pipe and fitting system, designed for the construction of gravity drainage and stormwater installations inside buildings. Made of spigotless grey cast iron, it ensures long-lasting and safe operation of the installation. The SML system is manufactured in accordance with the EN-877 standard, guaranteeing high quality and compliance with applicable standards.
Construction and installation
A key feature of the SML system is the connection of elements without the use of sockets. Pipes and fittings are connected using special pipe clamps – sleeves, straps or connectors, which significantly speeds up installation and minimizes the risk of errors. Installation is simple and does not require specialized tools, which translates into saving time and costs.
Advantages for professionals and users
The SML system is distinguished by a number of advantages that will be appreciated by both installers and end users:
- Fire safety: Cast iron products are non-combustible (class A2 according to EN 13501), non-toxic and maintain their functional properties even in the event of a fire. The walls of the elbow remain impermeable to flames and gases, providing protection against the spread of fire.
- Acoustic comfort: The high density of cast iron and the use of rubber seals in the connecting elements minimize the transmission of material sound, ensuring quiet wastewater drainage.
- Chemical and thermal resistance: The internal coating with cross-linked epoxy resin protects against the aggressive action of wastewater, and firing at high temperature (approx. 180°C) ensures a durable connection of the coating with the element, increasing thermal resistance.
- Anti-corrosion protection: The improved epoxy resin coating protects the elbow against corrosion, extending its service life.
- Durability and stability: Cast iron is characterized by high resistance to impacts, deformation and temperature changes. Low thermal expansion allows for concrete embedding of pipes without risk of damage.
- Ecology: The material is 100% recyclable, minimizing the impact on the natural environment. Production is based mainly on the use of iron scrap, reducing the consumption of natural resources.
- Smooth inner surface: Ensures free flow of wastewater and minimizes the risk of blockages.
The SML 50/68 cast iron elbow is an investment in a reliable and durable drainage installation that will meet the expectations of even the most demanding users.
SYSTEM ADVANTAGES:
- NON-FLAMMABLE, FIRE PROTECTION - cast iron products made in accordance with en-877 are non-flammable, non-flammable (A2 flammability class according to EN 13501) and non-toxic (no smoke generation, no flammable or dripping materials due to the heat generated). In the event of fire, they retain their functional properties and reliability for many hours, i.e. their walls remain impermeable to flames and gases, without cracking and showing no loss of performance or significant changes in shape. The integrity of wall and ceiling ducts is also maintained.
- ACOUSTIC PROTECTION - Due to the high density of the cast iron and the buffer effect of the rubber gaskets at the connecting elements, the transmission of material sound has been reduced to a minimum, so this system offers an almost silent drainage. This increases the overall comfort in both office and residential buildings.
- THERMAL AND CHEMICAL RESISTANCE - a coating of fully cross-linked epoxy resin (red-brown on the outside and ocher (yellow-brown) on the inside) is applied to the surface of pipes and fittings, and then fired for 45 minutes at a temperature of approx. 180 ° C. The result is a high-strength joint that provides high thermal and chemical resistance, protecting against aggressive wastewater.
- ANTI-CORROSION PROTECTION - thanks to the use of an improved epoxy resin coating.
- ABRASION RESISTANCE - smooth internal surface creates favorable conditions for the flow of sewage.
- STABILITY - resistance to impact and deformation, resistance to temperature changes, low thermal expansion (0.0105 mm / mK), comparable to the value for concrete, therefore it is possible to concret the pipes without any problems.
- LONG LIFE - durable.
- ECOLOGY - the material is recyclable, 100% recyclable, without polluting the environment. The products are mainly made of ferrous scrap, which means no waste of natural resources.
- TIME SAVING - easy and quick assembly, no special tools required.
