Cast iron elbow SML 80/45 (hubless grey cast iron) 13875
System of hubless cast iron pipes for sewage installations
The SML system is a modern solution for gravity sewage and drainage installations inside buildings, made of hubless grey cast iron. Pipes and fittings are connected using special pipe clamps (sleeves, couplings, joints), which enables rapid installation without the need for welding or threading.
Cast iron, as a material, is characterized by high density and natural vibration-damping properties, resulting in almost silent wastewater flow. The system meets the requirements of DIN 4109 and VDI 4100 standards regarding acoustic protection of buildings.
Construction and advanced protective coatings
Elbows are made of grey cast iron with flake graphite, which provides an optimal balance between strength and ease of processing. The external surface is covered with a red-brown primer with a thickness of 40 μm, which can be additionally coated with standard colored lacquer or a coating composition.
A key element is the internal coating of fully cross-linked epoxy resin in an ochre (yellow-brown) color with a thickness of 120 μm, applied by spraying. For fittings, the process involves immersion coating of the internal and external surfaces, followed by 45-minute curing at a temperature of approximately 180°C. This results in a high-strength bond between the fitting and the coating.
Performance properties and safety
The SML system offers comprehensive fire protection - the products are non-flammable and non-combustible (class A2 according to EN 13501), and non-toxic (no generation of smoke or flammable materials). In the event of a fire, they maintain functionality for many hours, preserving the impermeability of the walls to flames and gases, as well as the integrity of wall penetrations.
The epoxy coating provides thermal resistance up to continuous operating temperatures of 80°C and chemical resistance within a pH range of 2 to 12 (at temperatures up to 50°C). The smooth internal surface creates favorable conditions for wastewater flow and provides high abrasion resistance.
Regulatory compliance and certification
The products meet the requirements of the EN 877 standard for cast iron pipes and fittings for building drainage systems and hold quality certificates according to the following standards:
- DIN 19522 (supplementary standard to EN 877)
- RAL-GZ 698 (quality mark with significantly extended inspection scope)
- CE marking according to the EU Construction Products Directive
The system is manufactured in accordance with ISO standards for quality management (ISO 9001:2008), environment (ISO 14001:2009), and occupational health and safety (BS OHSAS 18001:2007).
SYSTEM ADVANTAGES:
- NON-FLAMMABLE, FIRE PROTECTION - cast iron products made in accordance with en-877 are non-flammable, non-flammable (A2 flammability class according to EN 13501) and non-toxic (no smoke generation, no flammable or dripping materials due to the heat generated). In the event of fire, they retain their functional properties and reliability for many hours, i.e. their walls remain impermeable to flames and gases, without cracking and showing no loss of performance or significant changes in shape. The integrity of wall and ceiling ducts is also maintained.
- ACOUSTIC PROTECTION - Due to the high density of the cast iron and the buffer effect of the rubber gaskets at the connecting elements, the transmission of material sound has been reduced to a minimum, so this system offers an almost silent drainage. This increases the overall comfort in both office and residential buildings.
- THERMAL AND CHEMICAL RESISTANCE - a coating of fully cross-linked epoxy resin (red-brown on the outside and ocher (yellow-brown) on the inside) is applied to the surface of pipes and fittings, and then fired for 45 minutes at a temperature of approx. 180 ° C. The result is a high-strength joint that provides high thermal and chemical resistance, protecting against aggressive wastewater.
- ANTI-CORROSION PROTECTION - thanks to the use of an improved epoxy resin coating.
- ABRASION RESISTANCE - smooth internal surface creates favorable conditions for the flow of sewage.
- STABILITY - resistance to impact and deformation, resistance to temperature changes, low thermal expansion (0.0105 mm / mK), comparable to the value for concrete, therefore it is possible to concret the pipes without any problems.
- LONG LIFE - durable.
- ECOLOGY - the material is recyclable, 100% recyclable, without polluting the environment. The products are mainly made of ferrous scrap, which means no waste of natural resources.
- TIME SAVING - easy and quick assembly, no special tools required.
