The GBIC-102 SFP module is a component designed to convert electrical signals to optical signals, enabling data transmission over multimode fiber optic cable. It is an ideal solution for networks requiring a reliable connection over a distance of up to 2 km. It utilizes two LC connectors, providing a stable and secure optical connection thanks to the snap-in locking system.

Key Features and Application

The GBIC-102 module is compatible with devices from various manufacturers, such as TP-Link, Ultipower, and Cisco (subject to the absence of security measures implemented by the manufacturer). Thanks to the built-in Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM) circuitry, it is possible to monitor key operating parameters of the module in real-time – supply voltage, optical signal power, and temperature. This allows for quick identification of potential problems and maintaining optimal network performance. It is intended for use in LAN networks where data transmission speeds of 1.25 Gb/s are required.

Specification and Compatibility

The module supports multimode fiber (MM) with a diameter of 50/125 μm or 62.5/125 μm. Transmission takes place at a wavelength of 1310 nm for both the transmitter (Tx) and receiver (Rx). The module is powered by a 3.3 V DC voltage from the SFP port. It is important to use two GBIC-102 modules for proper communication between devices – this ensures full compatibility and connection stability. The module meets the IEEE 802.3z 1000Base-FX standard, guaranteeing interoperability with other devices compliant with this standard. The operating temperature of the module is in the range of 0 to 70°C, making it suitable for most installation environments.
