Professional surge protection in AC systems
The RSP-T1T2-AC 12.5/2P surge arrester is an advanced Class I+II (type 1+2) device designed for comprehensive protection of electrical installations against lightning discharges and surges.
By combining varistor and gas discharge tube technology, it provides effective protection against both direct lightning strikes and secondary surges.
Construction and protection technology
The device utilizes a varistor-gas discharge tube construction, which combines the advantages of the varistor's fast response with the high residual current quenching capability of the gas discharge tube. This hybrid technology guarantees reliable protection while extending the service life of the electrical installation components.
Hermetic GDT technology eliminates external arcing, which increases operational safety and reduces the risk of fire. The device is characterized by an exceptionally low protection level ≤2 kV, ensuring effective reduction of surge voltages to safe levels for the protected equipment.
The modular design allows for easy replacement of the protection cartridge after activation, without the need to replace the entire device. Optical signaling via a mechanical status indicator (green/red flag) allows for rapid monitoring of the device's status - green indicates operational status, red indicates required service action.
Operating parameters and performance
The arrester provides a maximum continuous operating voltage Uc = 275 V AC, enabling use in standard TN-S and TN-C single-phase networks. A nominal discharge current In = 30 kA (8/20 μs) guarantees effective absorption of typical network surges.
The maximum discharge current Imax = 60 kA and impulse current Iimp = 12.5 kA (10/350 μs) allow for handling even very strong lightning surges. A response time of ≤100 ns ensures immediate protection at the first signs of a surge.
A TOV withstand capability of 355 V for 5 seconds protects the device against overload during power failures. The maximum cross-section of connected conductors is 35 mm² for solid wires or 50 mm² for flexible wires, allowing for the connection of thick power busbars.
Normative compliance and operating conditions
The device has been designed in accordance with the IEC 61643-11:2011 standard, meeting the IEC/EN/VDE classification requirements as Class I+II / Type 1+2 / B+C. The manufacturer holds ISO 9001, CE, and RoHS certificates, confirming the highest manufacturing quality and environmental compliance.
The operating temperature ranges from -40°C to +80°C for parallel connections or from -40°C to +60°C for series connections. The enclosure protection rating is IP20 according to EN 60529. The enclosure material is UL94 V-0 rated thermoplastic, providing fire resistance.
Mounting is performed on a standard DIN TH-35 mm mounting rail according to EN 60715. The recommended maximum backup fuse is 200 A gL/gG for parallel connections or 125 A gL/gG for series connections..
