Protection of electrical installations against the effects of lightning strikes

The iPRD1 12.5R-T12-1 surge protector is a three-pole Class 1+2 (B+C) device designed to protect electrical installations from the effects of surges, including lightning strikes. Its purpose is to minimize the risk of damage to equipment and infrastructure, and consequently – reduce repair costs. The installation of this type of protection is particularly important in residential, industrial buildings and in the agricultural sector, where the risk of damage caused by lightning is significant.

The device is characterized by high efficiency thanks to its spark gap-varistor design and an impulse current of 12.5 kA per pole. This allows for a quick response and effective discharge of surge energy to the ground, protecting sensitive electronic devices. Additionally, a built-in auxiliary contact signals the operation of the surge protector, informing about the need to check the condition of the installation. The ability to rotate the base by 180 degrees facilitates installation in various configurations.

The iPRD1 12.5R-T12-1 surge protector is designed for mounting on a DIN TH-35 mm mounting rail and occupies only 2 module spaces, allowing for easy integration with existing switchboards. It is adapted to work in TN-C networks and has an IP20 degree of protection, ensuring safe operation in standard environmental conditions. The maximum cross-section of conductors connected to the surge protector is 35 mm², which allows it to cooperate with various types of electrical installations. The L-N and N-PE protection level is 1.5 kV, guaranteeing a high level of protection against surges.
