Circuit breaker iC60N-B40-1 is an element of the iC60 series, designed to protect electrical installations against the effects of overloads and short circuits. This single-pole circuit breaker with a rated current of 40A is used both in residential buildings and in commercial and industrial facilities. Its design combines compliance with IEC/EN 60947-2 (industrial) and IEC/EN 60898-1 (building) standards, providing flexibility in choosing the appropriate protection.

Application and functionality

The iC60N-B40-1 circuit breaker is characterized by a B tripping characteristic, which means it reacts quickly to current increases, making it ideal for circuits with resistive loads, such as lighting or household appliances. The ability to simultaneously disconnect the N pole is not available in this model. Its compact size – 1 module wide – allows for efficient use of space in the distribution board. The rated short-circuit breaking capacity Icn is 6 kA at 230 V, and Icu according to IEC 60947-2 is 10 kA, ensuring effective protection of the installation.

Construction and mounting

The circuit breaker has been designed with installers in mind. The ability to remove a single device without removing the busbar significantly speeds up service work. In addition, mounting on a DIN rail is done without tools thanks to special clips. A large area for circuit marking facilitates identification of the protected circuit. The circuit breaker has IP20 screw terminals, insulated and allowing connection of wires with a cross-section from 1 to 35 mm² (solid) or from 1 to 25 mm² (stranded).

Safety and additional functions

The safety of use is enhanced by the VisiTrip and VisiSafe indicators. VisiTrip informs about the tripping of the circuit breaker (red color), which facilitates locating the fault, while VisiSafe indicates an open circuit (green color), allowing for safe maintenance work. Additional functions include the possibility of mounting a padlock for increased security and compatibility with various accessories, such as additional trip units or auxiliary contacts. The energy limitation class is 3, which affects the cost of protecting the downstream circuit.
