Functionality and application

This single-pole (1N) circuit breaker with a C-characteristic overcurrent trip unit is ideal for circuits with devices generating surge currents during start-up – such as motors. The C characteristic allows it to react more slowly to short current spikes, so it tolerates the starting of devices with a motor well. It provides effective protection against overload and short circuit – like most circuit breakers in this class. Additionally, the residual current function (30mA type A) protects against electric shock in the event of insulation failure.

Construction and characteristic features

The iDPNHVigi-C20-30-A circuit breaker features a two-pole lever that indicates which member (overcurrent or residual current) caused the tripping. Optical Visi-Trip indicators (white-red) signal the activation of the electrical trip unit, and Visi-Safe (green) confirms the opening of the circuit breaker contacts – which facilitates diagnostics and quick fault location. The ability to perform a functionality test with the control button “T” once a year for the first 7 years of use allows for regular verification of the device's correct operation.

• The rated short-circuit breaking capacity is 10kA (according to IEC 60947-2 and EN 61009), which guarantees safety in the event of serious overvoltage.
