Surge protective device iPRD40-T2-1N 1+1-pole Type 2 40 kA A9L40500
Professional protection of electrical installations against surges
The iPRD40-T2-1N surge protective device is an advanced Type 2 device from the Schneider Electric Acti9 series, designed for effective protection of electrical installations against harmful surges in TN-S and TT networks. Utilizing MOV + GDT technology and a maximum discharge current of 40 kA, the device ensures reliable protection for both professional installers and end users.
Design and technical parameters
The modular design based on MOV + GDT technology guarantees high surge suppression efficiency while maintaining compact dimensions. The device occupies only 2 modules on a standard TH-35 mm DIN rail (36×85×69 mm), allowing for space savings in electrical distribution boards.
The device features a rated discharge current of 15 kA and a maximum discharge current of 40 kA, providing a protection level of 1.4 kV in both L-N and N-PE configurations. The short-circuit strength is 50 kA, and the operating temperature range is between -25°C and +60°C.
The design allows for flexible installation - power can be supplied from the bottom (via busbar) or from the top (via cables). Single-core or multi-core connections with a cross-section of up to 35 mm² are required, and the tightening torque is a standard 2.5 Nm.
Application and system compatibility
The device is specifically designed for TN-S and TT networks, offering comprehensive protection in both grounding systems. The maximum continuous operating voltage is:
- Differential mode L-N: 350 V AC
- Common mode L-PE: 350 V AC
- Common mode N-PE: 260 V AC
Integrated optical signaling allows for easy monitoring of the device status without the need to dismantle the cassette module. The cassette design enables rapid replacement of worn components without having to remove the entire device.
Standards and operating conditions
The surge protector complies with the requirements of European standards EN 61643-11:2012 and international standards IEC 61643-11:2011, holding CE certificates as well as KEMA-KEUR and NF quality marks. The IP20 protection rating ensures safe operation in indoor environments.
The device maintains full functionality within a relative humidity range of 5% to 95% and at altitudes up to 2000 m above sea level, making it a versatile solution for diverse installation conditions in residential, commercial, and industrial construction.
