This four-pole surge arrester, catalog number 16332, is a key element ensuring the safety and continuity of the electrical installation. Designed by Schneider Electric, it combines the functions of Type 1 and Type 2 arresters, offering comprehensive protection against the effects of lightning strikes and overvoltages from the grid. Its task is to minimize the risk of damage to sensitive electronic and electrical equipment, as well as to prevent fires caused by failures.

Versatility and compatibility with various systems

The PRD125r-T12-3N surge arrester is compatible with many popular network systems, including TT and TN-S. The ability to be used in various configurations makes it a universal solution, ideal for both home and commercial installations. It is not compatible with IT, DC, TN-C-S, TN and TN-C systems. The rated AC voltage is 400 V, and the highest continuous operating voltage is 350 V.

Effective protection and status indication

Protection class Type 1+2 guarantees high efficiency in suppressing both high-energy impulses (lightning strikes) and lower-energy impulses (transient overvoltages). The L-N and N-PE protection level is 1.5 kV. Additionally, the arrester is equipped with optical indication of operation, which informs about the need to replace or check the device after a surge. This facilitates quick diagnosis and minimizes installation downtime. Mounting is done on a standard DIN TH-35 mm mounting rail – which greatly simplifies the installation and replacement process.

Solid construction and parameters for professionals

The arrester occupies 8 modules on the distribution rail. It accepts conductor cross-sections up to 35 mm², both solid and stranded (also flexible). The degree of protection IP20 provides basic protection against accidental contact. Spark gap switching technology ensures reliable operation of the device for a long time. The lack of an integrated backup fuse means that appropriate upstream protection must be used in the installation – which is in line with good practices in the design of surge protection systems.
