Active filters for reactive power compensation AHF 35A
Active filters for reactive power compensation – effective protection and network optimization
Active filters from the AHF series are advanced devices designed for reactive power and harmonic compensation in electrical installations. They are an effective solution for improving energy quality, reducing losses, and increasing network reliability. They are particularly useful in environments where non-linear loads generating disturbances occur, such as inverters, switch-mode power supplies, or electric motors.
Functionality and application
AHF devices offer comprehensive correction of network parameters, including:
- Individual harmonic current compensation: elimination of harmonic disturbances that can negatively affect device operation and cause energy losses.
- Reactive power compensation: improvement of the power factor (cos φ), which reduces network load and lowers energy costs.
- Load balancing: equalization of phase loads, which prevents overloads and ensures stable operation of the installation.
These filters are primarily used in filtration systems for groups of consumers that are a source of distortion over a wide frequency range. Thanks to the fast response to changes in the network (less than 5ms), they ensure dynamic and precise correction of parameters. They are available in 3-wire and 4-wire versions, allowing for filtering of harmonics also in the neutral conductor.
Construction and characteristic features
AHF filters are characterized by a modular and compact design, which facilitates their installation even in limited space. The flexibility of the solution allows adaptation to different operating conditions and expansion of the filtration system by adding additional modules in parallel. The device analyzes the load level using current transformers and uses FFT algorithms to identify harmonics. The generated current with opposite phase effectively eliminates disturbances. The maximum supply voltage is 456V, and the range of compensated harmonics reaches up to the 50th order. An intuitive control panel (available in a 4” version or optionally 7”) enables real-time monitoring of operating parameters and device parameterization. Advanced algorithms allow for recognition of network impedance and prediction of resonance, ensuring optimal installation protection. The device offers stepless reactive power compensation for precise adaptation to customer needs.
