Backflow preventer – protection of the water supply network

This BA4760 type backflow preventer, with a nominal diameter of DN100, is a key element protecting water installations from contamination caused by backflow. Construction and principle of operation

The BA4760 isolator consists of two check valves separated by an intermediate chamber. In the event of backflow, an air gap is created in the chamber, which effectively isolates the supply zone from the drainage zone. The valve has pressure gauge connections allowing constant monitoring of the device's operation. Made of high-quality materials – cast iron (body), bronze and brass (check valves) and EPDM (diaphragm and seals) – guarantees durability and corrosion resistance. It is important to ensure drainage to the sewer system for effective drainage of water from the intermediate chamber.

Installation and maintenance – the key to reliability

Correct installation is crucial to ensure the proper functioning of the backflow preventer. In accordance with PN-EN1717, shut-off valves should be installed before and after the device to allow its maintenance and servicing. A sediment filter is recommended to be installed directly before the isolator to protect it from damage caused by mechanical impurities. It is also important that the device is installed in a horizontal position, with the drain valve facing downwards and protected from frost and high temperatures. Opening the shut-off valve before the isolator should be done slowly to avoid sudden hydraulic shocks.
