Three-phase starter switch – reliable motor control

This 63A cam switch, designed for operation in three-phase systems (0,Y,A), is a robust solution for starting and controlling motors. Manufactured by SPAMEL, it combines durability, safety and functionality. It is ideally suited for both industrial installations, workshops and machine construction. A complete device in an OB16 housing with a lockable front provides protection against external conditions and facilitates installation.

Construction and operating parameters

The switch is designed to operate in demanding conditions. The housing made of plastic guarantees mechanical strength and corrosion resistance. The IP65 protection class on the front side ensures safe use even in humid environments. The switch allows smooth switching between different motor winding configurations (0, Y, A), allowing for optimization of start-up and operating parameters. The rated continuous current of 63A and high resistance to shock currents (1.2 kA) guarantee reliable operation even under heavy loads.

Functionality and application

This cam switch is not only a control element, but also a fuse for the installation. Thanks to the ability to disconnect the circuit in the "0" position, it provides full control over the motor power supply. Designed for direct mounting using screw connections (wires with a cross-section of 6-16 mm²), which facilitates installation and minimizes the risk of errors. A wide range of operating temperatures (-40°C to +70°C) allows it to be used in various environmental conditions. The possibility of use in AC-3 circuits (motor starting) with a power of up to 18 kW at 400V makes it a versatile tool for installers and end users. Additionally, the lack of auxiliary contacts allows simplification of the electrical diagram where they are not required.
