Cam switch – reliable switching in demanding applications

This SK80 cam switch, which also functions as an isolator, is a versatile device designed for connecting and disconnecting electrical circuits. It offers a wide range of applications, from motor disconnectors to switches in transformers and welding equipment. The switch design allows for the creation of individual connection programs tailored to the specific needs of the installation. Thanks to the segmented construction with double cams, it is possible to obtain different handle drive angles – 30°, 45° or 90°, providing flexibility in configuration.

Construction and practical application

The SK80 switch is available in several mounting versions: for desktop, on a TS35 rail, in OB17/OB18 enclosures and for built-in installation. The version with the OB17 enclosure, which we offer (SK80-2.8211\OB17), provides additional protection against external conditions and facilitates integration with existing systems. The device is perfect for indoor use in environments with a third degree of pollution, typical for industrial applications.

The applications of the switch include:

• Switching off motors under load (AC3, AC23).
• Connecting resistive loads and heating elements.
• Switching in transformers and welding equipment.
• Changing the direction of rotation of three-phase motors.
• Construction of starting switches (star-delta) and other switching elements.

• Configuration flexibility: The ability to build a switch consisting of up to 7 segments (14 pairs of contacts) allows for the implementation of unconventional connection programs according to individual customer needs.
• Environmental resistance: Metal elements are protected with an electrolytic coating protecting against corrosion, and the device can operate in a wide temperature range (-40°C to +70°C).
• Safety: Meets the requirements of RoHS 2002/95/EC Directive - does not contain substances hazardous to the environment.

Additional technical information: the rated insulation voltage Ue is 690V, and the rated continuous current Iu is 80A. The short-circuit rated current Icw(1s) is 1.5kA. The permissible cross-section of connection wires is 16-35mm² for rigid wires and 16-25mm² for flexible wires.
