Fire-resistant power cable – safety and reliability in critical situations
This 19-core fire-resistant power cable (N)HXCH FE180 PH90/E90 0.6/1 kV, with a cross-section of 1.5 mm², is designed for installations requiring the highest level of fire safety. It is intended for powering devices that must function reliably even in fire conditions, such as fire pumps, smoke extractors, and emergency lighting. Its construction and materials ensure the maintenance of electrical functions for 90 minutes, which is crucial for effective evacuation and fire extinguishing.
Cable application and construction
These cables are used in buildings and facilities with increased fire safety requirements – hospitals, shopping centers, cinemas, subway tunnels and other public buildings. The use of halogen-free materials minimizes the emission of toxic gases during a fire, increasing the safety of people in the building. The cable is designed for permanent installation both indoors and outdoors. Additionally, the sheath is resistant to UV radiation. Laying in water and soil requires additional protection against moisture.
The cable construction includes:
- Conductors: Made of soft copper wires (RE - solid round class 1).
- Insulation: Special cross-linked silicone rubber, with colors compliant with PN-HD 308 or black with white wire numbers.
- Core: Stranded wires.
- Filling: Halogen-free material providing additional safety.
- Screen: Coaxial wire made of copper wires and a counter-helical tape of copper tape wrapped with polyester tape.
- Outer sheath: Halogen-free material (HFFR) with HM4 properties according to PN-HD 604 S1 in orange color – provides resistance to mechanical damage and atmospheric factors.
Certificates and compliance with standards
The cable has a Certificate of Conformity and a Certificate of Approval issued by the Scientific Research Center for Fire Protection – PIB in Józefów, which confirms its high quality and compliance with strict safety standards. It does not spread flames, and the emitted gases are non-toxic and non-corrosive. It should be remembered that the cable should not be used in rooms protected by fixed water extinguishing systems.
