Fire-resistant power cable – safety and reliability in crisis situations
This fire-resistant power cable, marked with the symbol (N)HXCH FE180 PH90/E90 0.6/1 kV, is a solution dedicated to installations requiring continuous power supply in the event of a fire. Designed to power fire-fighting equipment, such as water pumps and smoke extractors, it provides crucial support during evacuation and fire-fighting operations. Made of high-quality materials, it meets stringent safety standards and is ideal for use in public buildings, tunnels, hospitals and other facilities with increased fire protection requirements.
Construction and properties
The cable is characterized by an advanced construction ensuring its reliable operation even in extreme conditions. It uses soft copper wires (RE – solid or RM – stranded) insulated with special cross-linked silicone rubber. The strands are twisted layer by layer in the core, and the whole is protected by a filling layer made of halogen-free material. In addition, the cable has a coaxial copper wire and an outer sheath made of halogen-free HFFR material (with HM4 properties according to PN-HD 604 S1) in orange color. This construction guarantees flame retardancy, low smoke emission and the absence of toxic and corrosive gases during combustion.
Application and benefits
This cable is primarily used in fire protection installations, where its resistance to fire and high temperatures (PH90/E90 – 90-minute resistance) is crucial. It is ideal for powering:
- Water pumps of fire protection installations
- Smoke extractors
- Smoke dampers
- Safety and emergency lighting
- Fire service lifts
Thanks to certificates of conformity and approvals issued by the Scientific Research Centre for Fire Protection - PIB in Józefów, you can be sure of its high quality and compliance with all safety requirements. The cable is designed for permanent installation both indoors and outdoors. Its sheath is resistant to UV radiation, and with additional protection against water and moisture – it can also be laid in water and soil. It is worth remembering that the cable should not be used in rooms protected by fixed water fire extinguishing systems.
The nominal conductor cross-section is 50 mm², and the number of conductors is 2. These parameters allow for efficient transmission of electrical energy in demanding applications.
