Fire-resistant power cable – safety and reliability in crisis situations
This fire-resistant power cable (N)HXCH FE180 PH90/E90 0.6/1 kV, manufactured by TECHNOKABEL S.A., is designed for installations requiring the highest level of fire safety. Intended for powering safety-critical devices such as fire pumps or smoke extraction systems, it ensures continued operation even in extreme conditions. Its construction and materials guarantee resistance to high temperatures and the absence of toxic gas emissions during a fire.
Construction and application
These cables are used in buildings and facilities with increased fire safety requirements – hospitals, shopping centers, tunnels, cinemas, and anywhere where protecting life and property is a priority. They are ideal for installation in places where the operation of electrical devices is essential during evacuation and fire extinguishing. They provide sustained electrical function for 90 minutes (PH90/E90), which is crucial for the proper functioning of safety systems. They are used for permanent laying both indoors and outdoors. Additionally, the cable sheath is resistant to UV radiation, and with appropriate protection – also to water and moisture.
This cable is characterized by a construction that ensures high reliability:
- Conductors made of soft copper wires (class 1 or 2 depending on the RE/RM designation), providing flexibility and ease of installation.
- Conductor insulation made of special cross-linked silicone rubber, resistant to high temperatures.
- Filling compound made of halogen-free material – increases safety in the event of a fire by minimizing the emission of toxic substances.
- Outer sheath made of halogen-free material (HFFR) with HM4 properties according to PN-HD 604 S1 in orange color – provides additional protection against external factors and facilitates cable identification.
Key features and benefits
- Fire resistance: Cables meet stringent standards for fire resistance (PH90/E90), guaranteeing continuous power supply in emergency situations.
- Halogen-free: The absence of halogen in the material composition means no emission of toxic gases during a fire, increasing people's safety.
- Mechanical strength: Solid construction provides resistance to mechanical damage during installation and operation.
- Weather resistance: UV-resistant coating allows the use of cables outdoors.
- Certificates and approvals: They have a Certificate of Conformity and a Certificate of Approval issued by the Scientific and Research Centre for Fire Protection - PIB in Józefów – confirmation of high quality and compliance with safety standards.
- Conductor cross-section: The available conductor cross-section is 10 mm², providing adequate current carrying capacity for most industrial and commercial applications. The cable has 4 conductors.
However, it should be remembered that the cable should not be used in rooms protected by fixed water fire extinguishing systems.
