Fire-resistant power cable – safety and reliability in critical situations
This seven-core power cable with a cross-section of 1.5 mm² is designed for installations requiring the highest level of fire safety. The cable, designated as (N)HXCH FE180 PH90/E90 0.6/1 kV, is a key element of emergency and backup power systems in public buildings and facilities with increased safety requirements.
This cable is an ideal solution for powering fire-fighting equipment, such as fire-fighting system water pumps or smoke extractors. Its construction ensures reliable operation for 90 minutes in fire conditions, which is crucial for ensuring safe evacuation and effective fire fighting.
Cable application and construction
TECHNOFLAME (N)HXCH FE180 PH90/E90 cables are intended for permanent laying inside and outside buildings. Thanks to their UV resistance, they can be used in outdoor installations. Additional protection against moisture allows the cables to be laid even in water or soil.
The cable construction is designed for maximum safety:
- Cores: Made of soft copper strands, available in class 1 (single-wire round RE) or class 2 (multi-wire round RM), according to PN-EN 60228.
- Insulation: Special cross-linked silicone rubber provides high temperature and fire resistance. The insulation colors of the cores are in accordance with PN-HD 308 or black with white numbers for easy identification.
- Core: Twisted layer cores with insulation form a stable cable core.
- Filling: Halogen-free material filling the spaces between the cores increases safety in the event of a fire.
- Screen: Coaxial core made of bare copper wires and a counter-twisted spiral of copper tape provides protection against electromagnetic interference.
- Sheath: Made of halogen-free material (HFFR) with HM4 properties according to PN-HD 604 S1, is characterized by high fire resistance and low emission of toxic gases during combustion. The orange color makes it easy to identify the cable as fire-resistant.
Certificates and compliance with standards
The cables meet strict safety standards confirmed by a Certificate of Conformity and a Certificate of Approval issued by the Scientific Research Center for Fire Protection - PIB in Józefów. They do not spread flames, emit minimal smoke, and the gases released are non-toxic and non-corrosive – making them an ideal choice for facilities with increased fire protection requirements such as hospitals, shopping centers or metro tunnels. However, it should be remembered that the cable should not be used in rooms protected by fixed water extinguishing systems.
