Shielded control cable – reliable data and power transmission

This flexible, shielded control/data transmission cable, designated YKSLYekw-P-Nr, is designed for use in demanding control, safety, and automation systems. It is suitable for both power and signal transmission applications. The twisted-pair construction minimizes interference between signals, which is crucial in precise installations.

This cable is particularly recommended where protection against electromagnetic interference is essential. A common static screen effectively protects the cable cores from induction of external electric fields and limits the emission of interference to the environment. This ensures stable and reliable data transmission.

Construction and application

The YKSLYekw-P-Nr cable features a robust construction providing high flexibility and mechanical strength. It is made of multi-wire copper conductors (tinned on request), insulated with PVC. The conductors twisted in pairs and then arranged in layers in the core further increase resistance to interference. The core wrapped with a polyester tape provides additional insulation and mechanical protection.

Applications of the cable include:

• Environments exposed to oils (depending on the version)

Special versions for demanding applications

Special versions of the cable are available tailored to specific working conditions:

• YKSLYekw-P-O: Resistant to petroleum-based materials – ideal for gas stations, warehouses, or transshipment stations. The coating is made of special PVC meeting the PN-EN 60811-2-1 standard.
• YnKSLYekw-P: With increased flame retardancy – self-extinguishing coating meeting the PN-EN 60332-3 standard, limiting the spread of flames.
• YvKSLYekw-P: Reinforced PVC coating allowing installation outdoors and directly in the ground.

The cable has 14 cores with a cross-section of 2.5 mm², providing adequate current carrying capacity and enabling the transmission of multiple signals simultaneously. The colors of the core insulation comply with PN-92/T-90321 (IEC 60189-2) or black and brown with white pair numbering (in the YKSLYekw-P-Nr version).
