Shielded twisted pair control cable – reliability in control and power systems

This shielded control / data transmission cable, designated YKSLYekw-P-Nr, is designed for use in energy control, protection and control systems, as well as for supplying electrical power. Its construction, utilizing twisted pairs of cores, minimizes signal interference, which is crucial in precise installations. A static screen effectively protects against electromagnetic interference both inside and outside the cable.

This cable is characterized by high flexibility and mechanical strength, which facilitates installation and ensures long-term reliability. It is suitable for both permanent installations and movable connections inside buildings. The outer sheath made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) provides resistance to oils, expanding its range of applications.

Cable construction and design

The key to the cable's performance is its carefully designed construction:

• Cores: flexible, stranded, twisted with soft copper wires (optionally tinned). Class 5 according to PN-EN 60228 guarantees adequate flexibility and conductivity.

• Insulation: made of insulating polyvinyl chloride (PVC), available in colors according to PN-92/T-90321 (IEC 60189-2) for YKSLYekw-P 0.6/1 kV cables or black and brown with white numbering of the pair for YKSLYekw-P-Nr 0.6/1 kV cables – this facilitates core identification.

• Twisted pairs: insulated cores twisted in pairs minimize interference between signals.

• Core: twisted pairs layered form the cable core, which is additionally wrapped with a polyester tape for insulation reinforcement.

• Screen: a common static screen made of laminated metal foil protects against external interference and emission of interference. It also contains an earthing conductor made of tinned copper wires.

• Sheath: made of black polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resistant to mechanical damage and weathering. Other colors are available on request.

Special versions and applications

In addition to the standard version, special versions of the cable are available:

• "O" version: designed for use in places exposed to contact with petroleum-based materials (e.g. petrol stations). The sheath is made of special PVC resistant to oils according to PN-EN 60811-2-1.

• "Yn" version: with increased fire resistance – the sheath is made of special self-extinguishing PVC meeting the PN-EN 60332-3 standard (flame retardant).

• "Yv" version: with a reinforced PVC sheath – designed for outdoor installations and direct burial in the ground.

The cable has 28 cores with a cross-section of 1.5 mm², making it an ideal solution for complex control and data transmission systems requiring a large number of connections.
